CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Jan. 25, 2017) –The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) and Charlotte Checkers will host a public skate at Bojangles’ Coliseum on Thursday, Feb. 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. Public skates resurfaced last season with the Checkers' return to Bojangles’ Coliseum. A longtime tradition at this historic venue, public skates are just one of many ways the CRVA and Checkers are connecting with the local community.

“Bojangles’ Coliseum is excited to host another public skate night with the Charlotte Checkers,” said Bojangles’ Coliseum General Manager Cathy Buchhofer. “Public skates are a time-honored tradition over the coliseum’s more than 60-year history, and we’re excited to welcome the community to experience the excitement that our venue has to offer.”

The Checkers' mascot, Chubby, and the CheckMates will be in attendance from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and the Checkers' beloved organ player, Greazy Keys, will be performing from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission is $5 with your own skates and $8 with skate rentals (a limited number of skates are available). Parking for all attendees is free. All proceeds from the event go to the Checkers Charitable Foundation. Concessions and Checkers' merchandise will be available for purchase.

The Charlotte Checkers' regular season continues at Bojangles’ Coliseum through April 9. Season tickets are available by calling 704-342-4423 or visiting gocheckers.com. For information on other Bojangles’ events, visit bojanglescoliseum.com.
