CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 19, 2018) – From family-friendly performances to chart-topping tours, the holiday season is looking merry and bright with a festive event schedule at historic Bojangles’ Coliseum and Ovens Auditorium this year.
“Our venues have played an important role in many Charlotteans lives—from their graduations to their first concert or sporting event,” says Bojangles’ Coliseum and Ovens Auditorium General Manager Cathy Buchhofer. “We look forward to welcoming locals and visitors back with their family and friends for a special holiday memory this year.”

“A Gospel According To Jazz Christmas”
When: Friday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m.

About: Grammy award-winning saxophonist Kirk Whalum will kick off his 7th Annual Christmas concert tour in Charlotte, sharing the stage with the phenomenal Sheila E. The concert will also feature Kirk’s brother, vocalist Kevin Whalum, vocalist Lynn Mabry and musical director, keyboardist and vocalist John Stoddart.
Charlotte Checkers vs. Laval Rocket – Family Night

When: Saturday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.

The Beach Boys – “Reason For The Season Christmas Tour”

About: The Beach Boys, presented by Blumenthal Performing Arts, will hit the Ovens Auditorium stage to perform classics from their Christmas album as well as new music from Mike Love's “Reason for the Season” album. The Grammy Award-winning and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band is led by Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, who, along with musical director Scott Totten, Jeffrey Foskett, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Keith Hubacher, continue the legacy of the iconic American band.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage”

Schulz features everyone’s favorite Peanuts gang – Linus, Lucy, Snoopy, Sally, and more, all led by the lovable Charlie Brown – as they discover the true meaning of Christmas. “A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage”, Schulz’s timeless story of the spirit of Christmas, showcases the unforgettable music of Vince Guaraldi, performed by a three-piece ensemble on stage, as well as a concert of beloved holiday carols led by the Peanuts characters.

About: This past year has been historical for The Avett Brothers as they released their critically acclaimed documentary, “May It Last: A Portrait of The Avett Brothers.” The film followed the band as they wrote their Grammy nominated album”True Sadness.” The album achieved the group’s highest career debut to date, dominated multiple charts and was nominated for Best Americana Album and Best American Roots Performance for “Ain’t No Man” by the 2017 Grammy Awards.
“Dancing with the Stars: Live!”

About: TV’s biggest dance show returns on tour this winter with “Dancing with the Stars: Live!” The tour delivers a spectacular night of show-stopping dance performances from world-renowned dancers including Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Witney Carson, Artem Chigvintsev, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater, Hayley Erbert and Britt Stewart, with more surprise casting to be announced.
